Finding Information
I have now uploaded my large database of papers specifically targeted to the ornithopter community thanks to Box.net. Due to copyright issues, I cannot share them freely, however if you sign up for Box I will add you as a collaborator and you will be able to access everything. Please simply send your contact information to (ornithoptersresearch@gmail.com) or leave a comment below and I will get you added to the group. I will also include you in the directory unless you specifically ask not to be, so please send real contact information and perhaps a brief bio if you would like it included.
The papers are organized into categories: Artificial, Bat Models, Bird Models, Butterflies, Dinosaur, Fundamentals, General Press Releases, Hawkmoth, Hummingbirds, Insect Models, Methods, Older Papers, Presentations, Soaring vs. Flapping, UF work, and some general papers. Each section then has subfolders. The provided excel file serves as a directory and will also show you what is available. I will be refining these categories in the near future. If you have suggestions, please let me know.
I will also be updating the website and paper database with pertinent new titles of flapping wing papers that have come out so that you (and I!) stay on top of the news. You can customize your information similarly through feeds from EI Village or Google Alerts. For other ways of sharing, use Google Base, XDrive, EndNote Web, or Zotero.
If you would like to include your paper in the database, please feel free to contact me!

I’d recommend checking out the forums at Ornithopter.org if you are just looking for basic designs and an introduction to the community that builds ornithopters. They have some rubber band models there. See the store section for basic designs that could work for your rubber band powered model. This site will be tailored more for the research community. If you have specific questions that are not answered in the forums feel free to let me know!
